Bird Watcher’s Paradise

Discover Wolfville's best birding spots in this nature-filled half-day itinerary. Ideal for early risers and nature lovers, you’ll explore dykelands, trails, and marshes teeming with avian life!

1-Day Itinerary:

Stop in at T.A.N. for an early morning breakfast and coffee before going for a peaceful walk along the historic dykes bordering the Minas Basin. Bring along your binoculars to spot herons, eagles, and sandpipers.

Loop around the dykes to the Harvest Moon Trail. This flat, well-groomed trail offers incredible views of the surrounding farmlands and frequent sightings of songbirds and seasonal migrators.

If you’re feeling especially adventurous, walk all the way down to the Grand-Pré Marshes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that doubles as a birdwatching haven. Look for snow geese, warblers, and shorebirds depending on the season.

As you make your way back into town along the Harvest Moon Trail, stop off at Lightfoot & Wolfville, a vinyeard and winery just up the path. Enjoy a glass of Tidal Bay wine along with a wood-fired pizza or charcuterie board.

Finish your day at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens to learn more about the local Chimney Swift population that inhabits different areas around town.
