The Art-Lover’s Guide to Wolfville

Wolfville’s art scene is vibrant, diverse, and deeply tied to community. From galleries to public installations, this itinerary takes you inside the creative, cultural heart of the town.

Day 1: The Gallery Crawl

Start your day at T.A.N., sipping coffee and nibbling on a chocolate-dipped oat cake while admiring wall displays by local artists.

After your morning coffee, stroll down Main Street to the Acadia University Art Gallery, with its rotating array of contemporary and historical student shows and regional exhibits.

Let your mind continue to wander the exhibit as you enjoy a Mediterranean meal at Troy Restaurant (and if the weather’s nice, we’d recommend sitting outside on the patio). Don’t forget to try a piece of their mouth-watering baklava!

After lunch, continue your tour around the corner at Harvest Gallery. Carefully curated by Lynda Macdonald, the gallery boasts art from Steven Rhude, Melissa Townsend, Alex Colville, and many others from across Atlantic Canada.

To round out your day, enjoy some live music or take in an open mic night at one of our pubs on Main Street: Paddy’s Brew Pub, The Library Pub, or Kings Arms Commons. With the depth of musical talent in our area, you’ll be sure to catch a show that will have you dancing in your seat!

Spend the night in one of Wolfville’s most iconic accommodations: The Blomidon Inn. Each room at the Inn are uniquely decorated in a Victorian English style and are designated by name rather than number because of the rooms’ individual designs.

Day 2: Mingle & Make

After enjoying a beautiful continental breakfast at The Blomidon Inn, venture down Main Street to the local Post Office. Mounted on a brick wall facing the Town's war memorial, you will find nine, large, high quality, framed reproductions of Alex Colville’s most iconic paintings.

From the Colville exhibit, explore the many murals dotting the walls of Wolfville, including “The Tide Flows” (featured along the Linden Street side of Herbin Jewellers), “Wonderful Wolfville” (displayed on the back of the warehouse just before the Wolfville Farmers’ Market and observed from the Harvest Moon Trail), and “Smile, You’re in Wolfville” (on your left as you enter Charts Cafe). How many murals will you find?!

After your mural exploration, pop into The Church Brewing Co. Originally built in 1840, The Church is rich in history, art, and architecture. Choose one of their in-house beers from hymn list-turned-tap list at the front of the sanctuary.

Spend the rest of your afternoon in Wolfville at The Clayground Studio. Select a piece of pottery that speaks to you, enjoy painting it however you’d like (amateur artists welcome!), and the folks at Clayground will glaze and fire your piece in their kiln.
